Talaia, which means “watchtower” or “elevated viewpoint” in Basque, is the perfect name for this charming duplex located in the heart of Ondarroa, on Ipar Kale street. It offers stunning sea views and an atmosphere full of warmth and authenticity.
Situated on the fourth floor of a building without a lift, access is through Ipar Kale, which significantly reduces the number of stairs to climb, as the entrance is at what would be the equivalent of a second floor. However, it is not possible to reach the door by car.
Located in the heart of Ondarroa's old town, surrounded by narrow traditional streets, slopes, uneven ground, winding staircases, and unique buildings… an immersive experience infused with the scent of sea salt.
Upon entering, there is a hallway leading to a full bathroom with a shower on the left, and an open kitchen-dining area with a play space, a pantry with storage space, and two exterior bedrooms. One has a 1.50m double bed, and the other has a 0.90m single bed.
The American-style kitchen is fully renovated and well-equipped, combining fine wood, rustic tiles, and traditional furnishings that create a warm and cozy ambiance. It features all kinds of appliances for cooking at your convenience, including a large American fridge with ice cube or crushed ice dispenser and cold water. The dining area is spacious and full of warmth, with Nordic-style wooden decor.
A wooden and steel staircase leads to the upper floor, where a hallway connects two bedrooms: one with a double bed decorated in modern colors, and the other to the right under the sloped roof with a 1.80m bed. Straight ahead is another newly renovated bathroom and a living room designed for leisure, relaxation, or enjoying a drink with the sea in the background. From its two windows with balconies, there's a cozy buff-style corner perfect for reading or relaxing.
Beyond its interior charm, Talaia is located in a unique cultural and maritime setting. Ondarroa is a town full of character: lively streets, Basque with its own accent, and a strong fishing tradition. The port, one of the most important on the Basque coast, offers top-quality fresh fish you can enjoy in local restaurants.
Ondarroa is also a perfect starting point for exploring the Basque Country. In under an hour’s drive, you can reach the main cities, the coast, or historic towns like Gernika.
Access is digital, via an app that allows autonomous and flexible entry from 5:00 PM. A deposit will be required and returned once the accommodation is inspected and confirmed to be in good condition.
